SHDC New Bins Poster

South Holland District Council's new waste and recycling service begins on 9 November 2026, introducing wheeled bins, a four-week collection cycle and weekly food waste collections.

South Holland District Council has confirmed that its new household waste and recycling collection service will begin during the week commencing Monday 9 November 2026.

The new arrangements will replace the existing sack collection service with wheeled bins and introduce separate collections for paper and card, alongside weekly food waste collections.

The new four-week collection cycle will be:

  • Week 1: General waste – black-lidded bin

  • Week 2: Mixed recycling – blue-lidded bin

  • Week 3: General waste – black-lidded bin

  • Week 4: Paper and card – purple-lidded bin

Food waste will be collected every week using the orange-lidded outdoor food waste caddy.

Households will have one regular collection day each week, although some residents may find that their collection day has changed.

Important information for residents

The final collections of waste and recycling in sacks will take place during the week commencing 2 November 2026.

All households will receive a welcome letter, a new 12-month collection calendar and an information booklet explaining the changes.

Residents are encouraged to check their new collection calendar carefully and follow the instructions provided.

Separate arrangements will apply to properties with approved exemptions and communal waste collections.
