Minutes of the Finance Committee meeting held at the Community Hub & Library at 18:00 Monday, 12 January 2026
Present: Cllr Samantha Jeffery (Chair), Cllr James Avery, Cllr Andrew Chamberlain (arrived 18:04), Cllr Emma Beavis, Cllr Peter Ruysen, Mr Robert Smith (clerk), Ms Nicola Jowett (Administrative Assistant)
Absent: Cllr Terry Moore, Cllr Phil Tweddell.
26.01 Apologies for absence
Apologies for absence were received from Cllr Moore and Cllr Tweddell.
26.02 Declarations of interest and requests for dispensation
There were no declarations of disclosable interest nor requests for dispensation.
26.03 Minutes of the previous meeting
It was RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the previous meeting held 09 June 2025.
26.04 Draft budget 2026–27 and precept recommendation
It was RESOLVED to RECOMMEND to full Council approval of the latest revision of the draft budget for the financial year 2026-27, including setting the precept requirement at £164,578. The proposed precept equated to £1.50 per week per Band D household, an increase of 9.7%, or 13.2p / week.
26.05 Parish Maintenance Operator Supervisor appointment
Within the previously approved salaries budget, it was RESOLVED to RECOMMEND to full Council that the appointment of the new Parish Maintenance Operator Supervisor be delayed until Summer 2026, to provide an expected saving of around £14,000.
26.06 Blue Gowt Lane Cemetery completion works
It was RESOLVED that an additional quotation be sought for further completion works at Blue Gowt Lane Cemetery.
26.07 Date of next meeting
It was RESOLVED to schedule the next Finance Committee meeting for 19:00 on Monday 13 April 2026.
